A Question about Krewes

"I was looking at the event site and was curious about the Krew competition. I know nothing about Mardi Gras and am intrigued. The Krew page lists krews and has a sign up sheet but not much more info for those of us who are new to the game." What a great question! This year, our theme is Laisses le Bon Temps Rouler, the motto from Mardi Gras in New Orleans. During Mardi Gras, many local residents sponsor floats in the parade or other activities to support the party and the community. There's a great deal of fun competition between Krewes, which I think will translate perfectly to this event. When you arrive at the gate to sign in, you will be given a string of Mardi Gras beads. This string is precious and can be used in many different ways- you can wear it, save it for shenanigans or use it to vote for your favourite Krewe, which is what we're hoping you will do! Krewes will be made up of teams of people who have grouped together for whatever silly reason and will be competing to get the most beads by the Mardi Gras party on Saturday night. You certainly don't have to join a Krew, but I think it'll be a lot of fun if you do get together with your friends, your Barony, or whomever and go for it! There will be a prize for the winning Krewe.
Beads can be earned in many ways. Certain activities will be allotted beads for the winners (but I'm not going to tell you which ones or how many) and activity leaders can award beads as the see fit. You can bribe other Krewes, join teams and combine beads, or compete for them during the expected shenanigans. My staff and I will also be in possession of a lot of beads and I can certainly be bribed...
